Seresto® Flea Collars

As you may know, the USA Today released an article on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 claiming a link between Seresto flea collars and pet deaths. Elanco, manufacturer of the product, has released a statement addressing the safety of Seresto collars. We have included the letter here.

ESVH, Inc. understands the concern that the USA Today article has raised. We have used this product for many years and feel it is safe. That said, you have a choice in your flea and tick preventatives. ESVH, Inc offers several products that are efficacious in their fight against fleas and ticks. We can help you chose a product that you are comfortable with and that will keep your four-legged family member healthy.

It’s important to understand that the risk of contracting a tick-borne disease is far greater than the risk flea and tick preventatives impose. Ticks transmit diseases that can be very serious and can cause death if not treated; Lyme, ehrlichiosis and anaplasmosis to name a few. Fleas can carry parasites that can be detrimental as well. By keeping our furry friends pest free, we are improving their health and well-being.

If you have any questions regarding parasiticides or the USA Today article, feel free to give our hospitals a call. We would love to help you.
